Objective: Create a structure that can withstand a large downward force caused by a load on the roof.

→ Day One:
- Identify and Investigate: Use today to identify the problem at hand and also to research about different flat roof failures. What potential problems do you think you will come across.
- Make sure to document your thoughts in Section One of your portfolio.
- Resources at the bottom of this page.
- Brainstorm at least 4 different designs for your house. What are some pro and cons of each?
- Choose your final design. Draw the top, right side, and front of your house. Also draw what the inside of the house would look like from the top view.
- Make sure to add measurements (How big everything should be)
- Make sure to document your thoughts in sections two and three of your portfolio
- Build your paper houses.
- Document what you did.
- make sure to document in section four of your portfolio.
- We will be testing the homes as a class. Students will be calculating the amount of mass the homes with hold.
- Document the test results in your portfolio. Discuss compression, tension, gravity, external, and internal forces that may have acted upon your house.
- Make sure to document in section five of your portfolio.
- Given all the tests you have seen, how would you improve your house and why would you improve it in that way?
- Document in section six of your portfolio.
